Safety, Security & Rules

Gila River Transit has rules and regulations to ensure that all passengers have a safe, comfortable ride. Passengers who break rules or don’t follow the driver’s instructions may be removed from the bus or denied bus service. 


No drugs, weapons or hazardous substances. 


Smoking, eating and drinking are not allowed on the bus. Bottled water is allowed.


Waste receptacles are located at the front of each bus. Please help keep the buses clean and litter free.


Passengers must keep their personal items including packages, strollers and walkers secure at all times.


The driver cannot assist with packages. Passengers should not bring more than they can carry aboard.


Drivers may refuse service to anyone who is disruptive, offensive, rude to others, disorderly, threatening, or appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.


Children younger than six must be accompanied by an adult.


Bus rules are posted on all buses. Passengers must follow the rules. Drivers will enforce rules to ensure passenger safety.


Passengers must be courteous of other riders. This includes speaking softly, avoiding abusive language and cursing, and keeping noise levels low when speaking on a cell phone or listening to headphones. 


To ensure safety, do not cross in front of a bus to cross the street. First, wait for the bus to pull away from the curb.


Service animals are allowed. Service animals must be kept under the control of the passenger at all times. No pets, please.
